As a director, camerawoman, and editor, I make commissioned films as well as my own work. Although I specialize in dance, I make productions in a variety of styles, and for a variety of clients. These can be seen in the (film) theater, at symposia or conferences, on television, and in film festivals.

I make short dance films and documentaries on commission for Introdans. One of my favorite projects is “The Encounters” by choreographer Adriaan Luteijn. “The Encounters” follows ordinary but special people who create a performance together with the dancers of Introdans. My camera work is often close to the skin and shows people as they are.

I like to make pure films, and am greatly influenced by Surrealism. With choreographer Regina van Berkel, Dietmar Janeck, and Egbert Hotz, I made “…A second before awakening,” inspired by the work of Salvador Dali.

FESTIVALS

The documentary The Red Room (Introdans), was selected for [FRAME] The London Dance Film Festival. The Dutch version, De Rode Kamer, premiered at Omroep Gelderland.

The short dance film “Conrazoncorazon” (“With reason and heart”), in collaboration with Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto, was selected for Cinedans FEST and won prizes at the Berlin Short Film Festival (Best LGTB Short Film) and The IMZ International Music + Media Center/Dancescreen 2019 (Best Screen Choreography Short).

I worked with visual photographer Hans Withoos on “The World of Withoos,” a surrealist film that shows his inspiration and photographic work, which premiered at the Museum Flehite, Amersfoort (NL). The film was selected for Lonely Wolf Film Fest, Rome Prisma Film Awards, Venice Intercultural Film Festival, X World Short Film Festival (winner Best Short-Short, winner Best Editing, 2nd place Best Cinematography) and Los Angeles’s Style, Experimental, Fashion Film Festival (Best Experimental Film).

“CIRCULAR” based on the choreography of the same name by Adriaan Luteijn, premiered at Focus Filmtheater and was screened at Artfluence Human Rights Festival South Africa, CINEDANZA Italy (3d prize) and Cinedans FEST ’24. In 2023 “Circular” won the prize for Best Direction at the Experimental Dance and Music Film Festival in Toronto, Canada.

EDUCATION

I have been actively committed to film education since 1995. In addition to developing and giving audiovisual workshops and projects, I am a jury member at the JAFA Festival, a national film festival for students in the Achterhoek region of the Netherlands. I also am a guest lecturer for the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam.
